Joint Promises

The Governor's "2010 Plan," the Republicans' "Handshake with Alabama" and the Democrats' "Covenant with Alabama" all share similar promises. (The graph below takes into account that while the Republicans' plan has six priorities, the Republicans also chose to "embrace" the Governor's plan, thus for practical purposes, the Governor and the Republicans share the same set of promises.)

"Stand & Deliver's" tracking process will span the full four-year term, although updates will be made only after the end of each legislative session. The tracking presented here includes only introduced bills and not necessarily amendments to bills whose original introduction was not associated with an original platform promise. "Stand & Deliver" encourages visitors to contribute information and discussion about the tracking process.

This kind of performance for pay is obscene. How can we, as voters, keep sending these people back to the legislature? Treat the incumbents the same way they treat us; tell them anything they want to hear, then vote for "anybody else"!

Thanks to Alabama Policy Institute we now have a way to identify the failure of our elected officals. It is no secret that the legisture is only effective in handling their business and not the business of the people. I for one plan to campaing against my current elected representative and all "sitting" officials. Term limits is my number one objective. Legislative double dipping is number two. By passing the increase in salaries there is no reason other than corruption and moral failure that an elected offical should have two or more tax payer funded salaries nor should their relatives hold state funded jobs.
