Alabama Policy Institute Internship Program

Alabama Policy Institute is pleased to make available an internship program for undergraduate and graduate students. These positions offer students the opportunity to enter the state policy realm with Alabama’s home grown conservative think-tank.

Many interns find they can qualify for course credit, depending on the particular academic institution—applicants are encouraged to check with their university’s internship coordinator.

Internships are offered during the academic calendar; however, we will work with your schedule.
  • Fall Term: Last Monday of August to First Friday of December
  • Spring Term: Second Monday of January to the First Friday of May
  • Summer Term: Second Monday of May to the First Friday of August
Because the Alabama Policy Institute is a “small shop,” interns will be involved in virtually all aspects of the institute’s operations. Interns will work closely with senior staff on a wide variety of projects. They can expect greater responsibility and personal attention than they would receive at larger organizations.

Interns will assist staff members with a variety of tasks. These may include researching public policy topics, organizing events, and writing and editing op-eds, newsletters, studies, and other documents. Some administrative tasks may also be required.

Interning at Alabama Policy Institute is an excellent opportunity to improve your research and writing skills.

Interns will receive a modest stipend.
